Why is the color of the sky blue?

At some point in time, this thought would have crossed all your minds. You may have red, orange or even dark blue skies, but most of the time it is blue. Have you ever wondered why?

Well, here is the answer.

We know the sunlight (white light) that we receive is a combination of all colors. However, we don’t get to see the other colors, and therefore the white color. After a shower, you may get to see a rainbow where the sunlight gets to pass through water droplets. It enters the water droplets at a special angle and is dispersed into seven colors.

As the rays of the sun pass though the stratosphere, the light gets scattered by many particles such as water particles, dust and smog. The blue color gets scattered the most and therefore we have a blue sky. In other words, the blue color gets dispersed from the other colors.

However, at dawn or at dusk, the sunlight gets to pass through even more particles, thereby scattering the white light into hues of yellow, orange and red colors.

What is an owl pellet?

Owls are predators and they eat the animal that they hunt. Its nightly diet constitutes small bugs, insects, smaller birds and even small rodents. However, its stomach is unable to digest the bones, shells, feathers and fur from the animals that it eats. The parts that it cannot digest are formed into a small owl pellet and are later spit out or thrown up as tight pellets. These pellets are the size of an adult human thumb.

There are experts who claim that the zebra is white, because its under part or belly is predominantly white. Then there are a cross-section of people who have said that if the zebra’s skin is shaved or peeled off, then it is mostly black. Therefore, it all depends on how one has to look at the zebra.
