Tangled is a popular American 3D animated musical movie from Walt Disney Studios. The movie is based loosely on the German fairytale ‘Rapunzel’ published by the Brothers Grimm and is the 50th animated movie from Walt Disney Studios. The film tells the story of a young woman with magical long blonde hair who yearns to leave her tower and see the world outside. The film features the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy.

For hundreds of years a woman named Gothel uses a magical flower with healing powers to retain her youthful appearance until soldiers from a nearby kingdom use it to heal their queen who gives birth to girl called Rapunzel. Gothel realises that that Rapunzel’s golden hair has retained the flower’s healing powers and abducts the girl. Every year, the King and Queen release sky lanterns on Rapunzel’s birthday hoping that their daughter will return to them. As the years pass and Rapunzel is about to turn 18, she tries convincing Gothel that she wishes to see the lights. But Gothel refuses and leaves the tower. Meanwhile three thieves steal the crown and one of them, a man called Flynn Rider abandons his comrades, the Stabbington brothers and discovers the tower. Rapunzel convinces Rider to take her to the lights in return for the bag she has taken from him. He agrees and they leave. Gothel discovers Maximus, a palace horse close to the tower and fears that Rapunzel has been found. Maximus finds Flynn but Rapunzel’s charm manages to tame the horse and the three of them travel to the kingdom. When the lanterns are released, Flynn realises he likes Rapunzel and doesn’t wish to be deceitful. The Stabbington Brothers overpower him while Gothel tricks Rapunzel into returning with her. When she returns home, Rapunzel realises that she is the lost princess for whom the lanterns are released and confronts Gothel. Flynn runs to the tower when he realises that Gothel means to harm her. Flynn manages to rescue Rapunzel at great personal cost but cuts her hair to free her. Gothel falls to her death while tripping on the long hair. The film ends with Rapunzel reunited with her true family.

The movie received rave reviews because of the humorous take on the original fairytale. It is quite enjoyable and there are several hilarious moments in the movie that children and adults are sure to love.
