Space Jam 2: A New Legacy

Ever witnessed the father and son conflict about the son’s dreams for his life? Space Jam: A New Legacy, directed by Malcolm D Lee and released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on July 16, 2021, tells of the story of a father who finally comes to accept his son’s destiny, even though it is not what he had in mind.

Basketball champion and global icon LeBron James has a dream for both of his sons: that they follow his footsteps and enter into the exciting world of Basketball. However, Dom, who is a prodigy of sorts in computer software, wants to be a video game developer.

Dom’s mother and LeBron's wife, Kamiyah advises her husband to respect Dom's wish. In the meanwhile, LeBron is invited with his family to the Warner Bros. studio. He is offered to be made into a movie star, but LeBron does not accept the role. Dom is enchanted by the studio's software, especially its A.I., Al-G Rhythm. Dom tells his father that he might want to work with Warner Bros in the future, to which his father disagrees.

In the meantime, Al-G, who has become self-aware and desires more recognition, lures the father-son duo to the basement. Both are trapped inside a virtual reality there. Dom is taken prisoner and LeBron is ordered to assemble a basketball team made from fictional characters owned by Warner Bros. He is sent through the virtual space where he lands in Tune World. Meanwhile, Al-G begins to turn Dom against his father, helping him develop himself and his game, which he secretly intends to use against LeBron.

In the meanwhile, LeBron finds only Bugs Bunny in Tune World. Using a spaceship, LeBron and Bugs travel to different Warner Bros properties such as Game of Thrones, DC Comics, Casablanca and Harry Potter to recruit the rest of the Looney Tunes, such as Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig, into the Tune Squad. LeBron coaches them in basketball. The Tune Squad meet with Al-G's team, the Goon Squad, led by none other than Dom. Al-G livestreams the game and abducts numerous viewers, including LeBron's family, into the virtual reality. The understanding is that if the Tune Squad loses, the viewers will remain there forever and the Looney Tunes will be deleted permanently.

Predictably, the first half of the game is dominated by the Goon Squad. During the break, LeBron has a change of heart and he confronts Dom to tell him that he no longer will stand in the way of his dream. Al-G uses his own abilities to take control of the game and get the Goon squad to win. In the meanwhile, Dom discovers that, in order to win the game, he has to show a move to LeBron which will lead to he himself be deleted. However, as the game is about to end, Bugs performs the move, and sacrifices himself. He thus enables Dom to let LeBron score the final point and win the game, erasing the Al-G forever. The James’s family and the abducted people are now able to return to the real world and LeBron is now able to see his family in a different light. In the end, he supports Dom's dreams of becoming a video game designer.
