“Tabby's Time Travel” is one of the outstanding stories (sub-junior) of the first biannual International Short Story Contest 2019 written by Ishaan Deshmukh, New Horizon Public School, Airoli, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

Tabby's Time Travel

Once upon a time there was a city of Rozhok in America where the sky was always blue. The sun was playing hide and seek with the clouds. The flowers were filled the air by their fragrance. It was a pleasant day. In this beautiful city in the Roald Street lived a boy named Tabby. Tabby was always bored of studying. History was the subject that he hated the most. The favourite thing that he liked to do was going for adventures. One day Tabby was walking around Doal Street which was opposite to Roald Street, when he saw a flash in the forest of Georgopol. He took his cycle and went there. He saw a big machine there, he got curious about it. He went inside the machine and accidentally pulled the lever and to his surprise he saw a lots of rainbow coloured clocks ringing.

He then realized that the machine was a time machine. He was afraid but also excited. After a while the time machine stopped and he opened the door. He saw that there were giant leaves of plants that were as big as him. There were trees that even reached the sky. He walked for hours and hours and heard a rustling sound. He was afraid. Suddenly, he saw a small creature which was a dinosaur, the smallest dinosaur. He was amazed. Then he came to know that he was in the Jurassic period. He walked for a while and saw a giant leg as tall as a tree. He looked at it from top to bottom. It was brachiosaurus 'the biggest herbivore in the Jurassic period'.

It was fabulous.

It looked at him and he ran away.

After some time of walking he saw large eyes looking at him. He was so afraid that he was not even able to move.

It was the eyes of the largest carnivorous Jurassic dinosaur 'allosaurus'.

He ran and cried for help but there was no one to help him.

He was all alone.

At that he thought that he was the loneliest person in the world.

But, an idea occurred in his mind. There was a narrow piece of land in front of him. He walked carefully on it. But, when the allosaurus walked above it the land collapsed and so dinosaur died.

Tabby took a sigh of relief.

But his only problem was how to reach the other side of the land. He walked for an hour and he saw another piece of land. He ran towards it. He crossed the narrow piece of land carefully and after walking for some time he saw the time machine.

He sat in it and pulled its lever.

Again, he saw rainbow coloured clocks ringing around him. When the time machine stopped, tabby opened the door and he found himself in Georgopol forest.

From that time Tabby loved history.
