All About Gymnastics

Do you know anything about Gymnastics? I do and I will share with you. There might be scholastics about gymnastics but I will tell you about it instead.

Gymnastics is the second dangerous sport. There are four events for girls and six events for boys. One of the girl’s events is Floor. Over the years, floor mats have changed. There was once a bare floor or mats such as working mats. Different mats are used in Olympics. There is one layer of plywood, then 3 inches of carpet, and then they add springs to the bottom to make it bouncy. Gymnasts can jump higher with springs so they won’t fall doing tricks in the air.

Another event is the uneven bars. These bars are made out of fiberglass covered in wood laminate to prevent from breaking. There are many different skills you can do, which include a squat, pull over, and back hip-circle.

Another event is Vault. Gymnasts have to do a lot of tumbling on Vault. Vault contains lots of twisting. Vault is a running event. You have to run 82 feet on the runway. To get on the vault table, you can do a round off back handspring.

The last event is beam. You need balance for this event. If you lean to the left to much, then you will fall off. If you lean to the right too much, then you will fall off. You need to point your toes, stay balanced and keep your head up.

I do gymnastics and I’m on level 2. I will compete this year for the first time and I can’t wait. My dad will take my sisters and me to Connecticut, NY, Maine, and Ohio for Meets. I will do all 4 events and I will do my best.
