A Bit Of Patience Goes A Long Way

This is actually not a story but an actual incident in my mom’s life that I’m going to present in the form of my story. My mom suffered a lot in her childhood. When she was young, her parents left her with her grandmother. All members of my mom’s family had shifted to Australia. Life without mother was just hell. Now her wishes were scribbled. Each morning, she woke up with the burden of work that she had to do a lot of household chores and she had to look after her younger sister. Her grandmother was too old to help her in work but she loved her very much. My mom was just an apple of her eye. After a few years, grandmother died.

The parents of my mom came and settled in India. Now my mom expected love and care from them but in vain. My uncle and aunt looked and treated her badly. My mom lent them helping hand, but they always made fun of her.

My mom complained to my grandmother, but she laughed and said, “You have no living sense, you deserve this”.

Then the turning point came in my mother’s life. She was very upset and was sitting in her class. Her teacher, Mr. Andrews walked in and noticed her expression and he enquired what was wrong. My mother burst and a flood of tears started flowing. My mother spilled out her problems in front of her teacher. Mr. Andrews was a friend of her father.

He called my Grandpa and told her the same. He came to India but in a worst condition. He was totally drunk when he reached home. It gave a great shock to my mom. Now her heart was totally broken into pieces. Next morning, when she had a chat with my mom, he realized his mistake. During this, my Grandpa had a heart attack. He was shifted to a hospital. All blame came on my mother. When she got married after a few years, she thought that life would change. But her mother – in – law treated her badly. My mother was looking for solace in her new family. But it’s not so easy. Obstacles came but she fought bravely. And now everything is settled with her patience.
