How My Five Senses Work

Our senses are what allow us to perceive and learn about our world. They allow us to learn, stay secure and appreciate playing, meals and listening to music. In this fun science lesson, students will learn how our body lets us see, hear, smell, taste and touch things!

Which Five Senses Do We Have?

Our eyes give us the ability to see things such as color, shapes, people, animals and much more. They will explore how light allows us to see and how the eyes and brain combine to make us see images.

Ears enable us to hear songs, laugher and all kinds of natural sounds. In this section, the lesson teaches how sound travels and the way our ears react to different sounds.

Smells like flowers or freshly baking cookies can be smelled by our nose. The class will learn how smell helps us identify items and appreciate the scents we like eating.

Thanks to our tongue, we can taste all sorts of foods: sweet, sour, salty and bitter. The course will show students how taste buds operate and what makes different flavors appealing.

โœ‹ Our skin gives us a sense of hot, cold, softness and roughness. It helps us perceive different textures and temperatures and shields us as well.

What Actions Will Students Take?
