๐งฎ Patterns
Patterns make children notice a certain arrangement, allowing them to predict the order of events in the future. Introducing patterns to children helps develop their critical thinking as well as their knowledge of early algebra by helping them figure out, build, and expand sequences of numbers. Patterns provide valuable help when we solve problems and think logically. Seeing patterns in nature, music, and art can help young students see the value and excitement in math.
๐ด๐ต AB Patterns
AB patterns go back and forth, so you see red-blue-red-blue and so on. Being able to repeat these easy actions aids children in organizing and anticipating the steps in a process. Working with beads or blocks to form AB patterns helps kids use their hands and be creative. Knowing AB patterns allows you to build stronger skills in math and science involving sequencing.
๐ ๐ ๐ฃ AAB Patterns
In an AAB pattern, the artist draws two of one shape and then another, for example circle-circle-square. Children realize that these patterns can be observed and followed, which improves their ability to remember and observe little details. Using AAB patterns helps children learn to group and sort objects that have something in common. They play a crucial role in helping kids get good at early arithmetic and in noticing patterns in letters and words.
๐ด๐ต๐ก ABC Patterns
ABC patterns include three different colors, repeating them in the order red-blue-yellow-red-blue-yellow. When children find these complex patterns and add to them, it helps them develop the ability to think logically and sequence things. Adding colorful items or sounds can turn the act of learning the alphabet into an interesting and hands-on experience. Being able to follow ABC patterns readies students for understanding more difficult math ideas.
