The Top Places to Consider Traveling in the U.S. This Year

Are you ready to get out and explore the world around you? If so, you may wonder where to go. It doesn’t matter if you are a compulsive jetsetter or an occasional traveler; knowing where to go and what to do can help streamline your vacation planning.

While booking a Southern Caribbean cruise is a great way to take some of the guesswork of where to go out of the equation, getting to know some of the top travel destinations can also help. Keep reading to learn where these destinations are.

Alaska’s Coast

Lively gold rush towns, frolicking humpback whales, interesting art scenes dating back to native times, and breathtaking glaciers are just a few of the sights you can experience on Alaska’s coast. If you want to avoid civilization altogether during your trip, stick to some of the national parks in the area, such as Kenai Fjords, Misty Fjords, and Glacier Bay, which are easily reached by boat.

Astoria, Oregon

Astoria is found in northwestern Oregon at the mouth of the Columbia River. While the area is truly beautiful, it is also where the 1980s cult classic film “The Goonies” was shot. Along with having this Hollywood-based claim to the fair, Astoria is also the oldest American settlement in the West. As a charming seaside town, this area shows off a simpler time, thanks to the treasure-filled antique shops and colorful Victorian houses.

You can also find plenty of opportunities to drink, thanks to the presence of Fort George Brewery, which is famous for the IPAs, along with smaller hotspots such as Buoy Beer, which was established in a former fish cannery right next to the river.

The Berkshires

People who live in the busy city and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life find the Berkshires is the ideal, small town getaway. Here you will find rolling hills and quiet towns in the Western portion of Massachusetts.

While the area is still considered “sleepy,” in 2018, there was an influx of tourism and youthful energy to the area. Because of this, you can now also enjoy luxe wellness resorts, dance centers, and amazing outdoor markets and events.

Big Sky, Montana

Big Sky offers visitors more than 5,800 acres of skiable terrain. This makes it a great option if you are looking for Rocky Mountain skiing without the huge crowds. If you visit this area, you will likely want to stay at the Big Sky Resort or The Wilson Hotel, both popular destinations for visitors.

Birmingham, Alabama

Called “The Magic City,” Birmingham is the perfect example of what can happen when kids in Alabama head off to improve their skills and then come back to share their abilities and talents with their hometown. One example of this is Chef Adam Evans. Evans is a native to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and went to New York and New Orleans for several years to improve his cooking abilities. Once confident in his skills, he came back to Birmingham and opened Automatic Seafood & Oysters. However, you won’t just find food in Birmingham, and there are also plenty of activities and luxury lifestyle hotels to consider.

South Dakota’s Black Hills

Have you ever heard of “The Great American Road Trip?” If not, now is the time to learn more. If you take this adventure, there’s a good chance you will explore the Black Hills in South Dakota. The mountains here host Mount Rushmore and Deadwood, a historic town. Other attractions include some of the best glamping accommodations in the country and the opportunity to see majestic wild horse packs run right by your vehicle. It’s a great place to visit with your entire family.

If you are searching for the perfect destination to visit, then one of the options on this list should be the best option. Be sure to keep these options in mind to plan your vacation and ensure it is one that you, nor your family, will ever forget.
