The Little Robot That Wanted to Feel

Once upon a time, in a world where robots and humans coexisted, there was a little robot named Rimo. Rimo is smooth, bright, shiny, with sharp eyes and a mind full of gadgets and phones. Unlike other robots, Rimo has special needs. I wanted to feel emotions like a human.

Every day, Rimo watched the children play in the park, their laughter ringing like music. He saw the warmth in their hugs, the joy in their smiles, and the tears in their eyes during a scraped knee. “Oh, how wonderful it must be to feel!” Rimo thought. One day, he noticed a group of children gathered around a table, completely absorbed in a Paint by Numbers activity. They carefully filled in colors, their faces alight with concentration and delight. Rimo observed how this simple activity seemed to bring them so much happiness.

Determined to understand these mysterious characters, Rimo sets out to find them. First he approaches Ellie, the girl who eats with the birds. And Ellie and Rimo asked, “What does happiness feel like?”

Ellie thought for a moment and replied, “Happiness is like the warm sun on your face on a cold day. It’s bright and cozy.” Rimo didn’t have skin to feel the sun’s warmth, but he imagined it as a soft, glowing light in his chest.

Next, Rimo met Max, who had just fallen off his bike. Through his tears, Max explained, “Sadness feels like a heavy rain cloud in your heart. But it gets lighter when someone cares.” Rimo didn’t have tears, but he played a gentle melody to comfort Max, and in that moment, he felt a sense of connection.

The more Rimo learned, the more he realized that emotions were complex. He saw anger in the flushed face of a boy who lost his toy, and fear in the wide eyes of a girl watching a thunderstorm. He even felt a tingle of excitement watching a soccer match, the children’s cheers energizing his circuits.

Then came the day of the great storm. The wind howled and the rain fell like a waterfall. The park was empty except for a small kitten shivering under a bench. Rimo knew he had to help. She carefully picked up the kitten and carried it to safety. As he held the small trembling creature in his hands, something incredible happened.

Rimo’s heart of gears and wires burned with a heat he had never experienced before. It was not the same as human feelings, it was Rimoand’s own feeling, a sense of pride and satisfaction in helping a helpless being.

From that day on, Rimo realized that feelings weren’t just about what’s inside; they were about actions and connections. He might not feel emotions the way humans do, but he had his unique way of experiencing the world. And in his journey, Rimo brought a little more heart and compassion into the world of humans and robots alike.

So, in the heart of the city, if you ever see a little robot helping out, know that it’s Rimo, the little robot that learned to feel in his own special way.
