How to Keep the Toddlers Busy at Home

Toddlers always need something to keep them busy. If you can’t keep them busy, they mess up everything. Besides the sleep routine and the meal time, make sure to provide sufficient elements to keep them entertained and engaged.

There are many interesting games available in the stores. These games not only keep the child busy, but also increase the creativity, motor skills, and aids in cognitive development. Of course, mommies will be happy as it reduces the kid’s tantrums. Keen to know how to keep the toddlers busy at home? Get these toys and play things for them.



Play Dough:

Many kids tend to disturb the mommies while cooking. They would mess-up the kitchen by spilling the ingredients everywhere. Play dough is a great choice for the kids. Buy them dough in various colours. To avoid messing up with the floor, place the play dough balls in a tray. Let the children to make various shapes and designs. They can even have fun by punching, dabbing and throwing dough.

You can make the play dough at home.

Things you need:  (for single color dough)

  • White flour – 1 Cup
  • Salt – half a cup
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoon cooking oil
  • 1 spoon food color

Mix all ingredients, heat the pain, pour a few drops of oil, put the mixture into the pan and stir it continuously on low heat until the flour becomes firm. Remove the dough from heat and add some more food color and knead it.

The play dough is ready.

Shape Sorter:

This is an educational game for kids. You can simply make your little one occupied completely for a long time. Shape sorter consists of mini soft blocks in various shapes and colours. You can ask them to sort and separate the blocks of identical shapes together. Also, you can make them sort the blocks according to the colors, size, blocks in different shapes of same color, etc.

It aids in cognitive development, improves hand eye coordination, motor skills, etc.

Building Blocks:

The best and highly functional toys for kids are building blocks. It is hard to find a kid that hasn’t played with building blocks. Building blocks are available in various shapes, colors, models and sizes. Choose the one that suits best with your kid. Make sure to buy bigger sized blocks in bright colors to attract the kids. They are easy to handle by kids.

Besides, follow these simple rules to keep the kids busy at home.

  1. Allow them to join you in your work. Give them some responsibility or explain your activity, when you do something. For instance, when you put clothes in a washing machine, you can make it joyful for kids.
  2. Provide them plenty of opportunities to play and engage in various activities.
  3. Take toddlers outside every day. Staying in the indoors all the time will make them bored easily.

Also, don’t restrict the child when the little one tries to do something new.
