Guiding Your Children To Excellence

Parents: A child’s first and most important friend and teacher.

This section of Kids World Funs post deals with some of the excellent tips for guiding your children to excellence. Parents can have a serious impact on the goals, strategies, and personal philosophies of their children through extraordinary repetition, parental persistence, and a strong cultural reinforcement. The way the Parents approach their kids is very important in moulding their character in the right way.

Parents can adopt basic strategies to encourage self-discipline and delayed gratification. The more self- control you demonstrate, the more your child will absorb. Don’t immediately respond to their every plea. Let them learn to deal with frustration and want. Let them learn how to soothe themselves and discover that things will be all right if they wait for what they want. Set some simple rules and stick to them. Strategies like these prove that kids can learn to distract themselves from objects of desire, learn to abstract those desires, and learn to monitor their own progress, and so on. Children will have a distinct advantage beginning early in life.

Another important thing the parents should keep in mind is that don’t ever try to compare your child with others. It will hurt their self-esteem and will create a negative spirit among children. Believe that every child is unique, Talk to them and explore their areas of interest. Try to cultivate good practices in those areas as you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Everything that you say to them is been absorbed, catalogued and remembered by them. Show patience in listening to them also. Spending time with your children is the greatest gift of all. Give them plenty of love and encouragement and also be proud of your child and show it which will build their self-esteem.

Always try to be a good role model for your child. Remember how you looked up to your parents and grandparents and wanted to be just like them? Your child feels the same way about you.

See that your child gets enough sleep. Young children should be in bed by 8:00 or 8:30. They are growing and their bodies need sleep. It may take as long as a month to get your child on a schedule but keep on trying. It is very important. Read more and find the tips how to Raising Happy Children.

And always, always, love your children and let them know it.
