We all are surprised to see twins, they used to wear same cloths, have same bag, same umbrella. For parents having twins, they bring the joy to the family as well doubts of so many myths around them. Since the ancient ages, a lot of buzz revolves around the multiple births.

Raising the twin babies is a double bundle of joy. However, the parents are surrounded by too many suggestions, recommendations, myths and facts, which create a chaos. Debunking a few myths and explaining the facts associated with twin babies!

Twin babies are hereditary

Twins are the outcomes of hereditary facts! If you are a twin, you will have twin kids. Twin babies are considered a gene effect!

The fact is half-true! There are chances that if your mother or father is a twin, you may have twin babies. However, it is not true in all cases. Besides, a woman can give birth to twin babies with no previous history of twin births in the family.

Twins are opposite / unique

This is the most common myth about twin babies! People believe that they do either oppose each other in everything or share every trait in common. Neither of the two is correct. This characteristic feature of uniqueness or complete difference is widespread all over the world even in the modern age.

There is no evidence that twin babies neither carry the unique traits nor diverges. If one child excels at studies, other child may not be studious.

The characters, behaviors, likes and dislikes are influenced a lot by the surroundings, role played by people in their lives, and even the genetic factors.

It is good to leave the twins develop individual personalities and don’t force them.

Twins have ESP (Extra-Sensory-Perception)

This is one of the mysterious myths surrounding the twin births. Many of us have heard that twins can feel about what each other think. It is not true.

The fact is twins are closer than the normal siblings as they share many things in common. Due to the intimacy and shared experience, they have chances to anticipate others thoughts, actions and feelings.

Besides, the supernatural bond shared by twins has no proof.

Twins are competitors

Sibling rivalry is common in every family. It is totally a myth that twins consider themselves fierce competitors. It is actually the parent and others in the surrounding who induce competition and rivals among the twins. It is a common practice that many compare the twin babies in every aspect. Every child is unique and has their individualities and capabilities.

At the same time, twins may not be the best friends forever!

  • Identical twins are hard to differentiate – Twins generally have subtle physical difference
  • Giving birth to a boy and a girl as twin babies bring bad luck to the father – Quite absurd
  • Twins learn and grow at the same pace

These myths are very hilarious and sometimes bring harm to the beautiful family. Relying on myths won’t help in any way. Raise your twins happily without any anxiety!
