Yes! It is Christmas once again fast approaching, and the joy is in the air!
What better way to spend Christmas holidays than to create unique Christmas decorations! Decorating the house is one of the funnest parts of the holidays, although some difficult or dangerous activities like cutting down the tree or installing the lights around the house should be left to the adults or the professions like Christmas Light Installation Colorado, there are many more activities that even children can do. Stick Christmas Trees
This fun and easy craft project can be done at school or at home.
Things you need
- Paintbrushes
- Craft sticks: two small, three medium, and two large
- Green, yellow and brown paint
- Craft glue
- Wooden star cutout or small die-cut star
- Decorations such as glitter, sequins, stickers, and foam cutout
Step-by-step instructions
- Take a large craft stick, and place it vertically. This will function as a base for the other sticks.
- Glue a second large craft stick across the bottom of the first stick. Leave enough room to form a tree trunk. This is to make the bottom branch of the tree.
- Glue the three medium-sized sticks horizontally, above the large stick.
- Glue the small sticks above the medium-sized sticks. Leave enough room for a star on top.
- Now, pain the tree trunk brown and the branches green. (Allow kids’ creativity to run wild. They can paint the colours they would like.)
- Set your creation aside to dry.
- Now it is time to paint the star. You can paint it yellow, or use glue and glitter to jazz it up. After that, set it aside to dry.
- Once the star and the tree are dry, glue the star to the top of the tree.
- Now, children can use their imagination and add any other decorations they like to the tree. They can glue cute and bright buttons for example.
Pinecone Christmas Tree Ornaments
Pinecones make classy and authentic ornaments for a Christmas tree. Pinecone Christmas tree ornaments make great gifts for teachers and family members.
You can find pinecones at craft stores. Alternatively, just take a stroll down the countryside to get some. If you are lucky, you can get some from your own backyard!
What you need
- Craft glue
- Pinecones
- Water
- Yarn
- Glitter
- 2 shallow bowls
Step-by-step instructions
- Take one shallow bowl, and fill it with a mixture of craft glue and water. ( Take three-parts glue to one-part water.)
- Mix the water and the glue together.
- Now, fill the second shallow bowl with a thin layer of glitter.
- Take the pinecone, and dip the ends into the glue mixture.
- Holding the pinecone over the bowl containing the glitter, sprinkle glitter over the wet glue.
- Let the pinecone dry.
- Now, tie a piece of yarn near the top of the pinecone, in a loop.
- Your own pinecone Christmas tree ornament is ready!
Christmas Mice
How about something original and unique this Christmas? The little Christmas mice is just the kind of fun crafts that will keep kids of all ages engaged and interested. They can be made using supplies easily available.
What you need
- Craft foam
- Glues (hot glue works best but it is really up to you what kid of glue to use)
- Small pom poms for eyes and nose
- Candy canes
Step-by-step instructions
- Cut out the body and ears of the mouse in any colour craft foam.
- Use the pom poms to make eyes and nose.
- Make a slit for the tail at the end of the body.
- Once the eyes and nose are completely dry, slip a candy cane in the slit for the tail.
- Now your own Christmas mouse is ready to hand on the tree!
Reindeer Candy Canes
These cute reindeer candy canes are really simple to make, and are very cute!
Things you need
- Brown pipe cleaners
- Candy canes
- Pom poms for the nose
- Glue (again, hot glue worked best, but it’s up to you)
- Googley eyes
Step-by-step instructions
- Glue the eyes and a nose to the curve of the candy cane.
- Once it is dry, twist a brown pipe cleaner around the bend.
- Now, kink the pipe cleaner in order to make antlers.
That’s it! Your reindeer candy canes are all ready to hang on the Christmas tree! They also make a tasty little snack!
Christmas Reindeer Pot
Things you need
- A terracotta pot
- Two googly eyes
- Four brown pipe cleaners
- One red pom pom
- Scissors
- Craft glue
Step-by-step instructions
- Clean the terracotta pot thoroughly.
- Glue the eyes to the pot.
- Now, glue the pom pom to the pot below the eyes, to form the nose.
- Take the pipe cleaner and cut it in half.
- Wrap the two short pieces of pipe cleaner around a long piece of pipe cleaner. this is to form the antlers.
- Repeat for the second set of antlers.
- Now, glue the antlers to the inside of the pot. glue one on each side.
Your very own terracotta reindeer pot is now ready
