Art and Literature

Art and literature refers to human creations that embody man’s quest for permanence in a transient world. From the days of the caveman up to the concrete jungles of modern man, art has adorned man’s life and enriched his/her existence. In paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, poetry, novel and drama, what is seen is man’s expression of his/her humanity in all its myriad forms.

Current affairs in art and literature aims to bring the latest happenings in the world of art and literature to you, in language that is easily understandable.

Art, in fact, is a manifestation of the creative impulse of man. Some of the forms of art are literature (which includes poetry, fiction and non-fiction, novels and short stories, and epics), culinary arts (for example baking, chocolatiering, and winemaking), media arts (such as photography and cinematography) and visual arts (for example, drawing, painting, ceramics, pottery, crafts and sculpting).

Many people think of art as being in stark opposition to science. However, deep contemplation of either will show that art and science are just two sides of the same coin of human experience. Science without art will be a monstrosity: art without science, a useless toy.

We need both art and science for a balanced and stable human existence on earth. In fact all great scientists have always been great artists. And all great artists have achieved the precision that science demands, in their art. As Albert Einstein said, “After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well.”
