Help your Child Prepare for Board Exams

It is almost exam time! The yearlong study will be ended with a bang in few weeks. The phase of preparing for the exams could be difficult. Parents hold the responsibility to help prepare kids for the exams! Whether your child writes her first board exam or if he is a high school student, you should provide optimal support. Extra care is needed when your child is preparing for the board exams. When the exams get closer, children develop stress and fear! Besides, children also find it difficult to express their emotions. It impacts the physical and mental health! What parents can do? How can you help?

Give emotional support

Make them feel you stay with them! Extra comfort, extra care and extra nurturing give a dramatic boost in their approach towards facing the board exams. Talk to your children and discuss the issues they fear! Let them feel the children are secured and you have all your attention on them. Of course, don’t overdo it as it might appear that they are being manipulated. The emotional support should focus on giving them confidence!

Let them have clear expectations

Board exam scores are crucial! Make your child develop the clear expectations about the results. Don’t over expect yourself or under expect!

Don’t compare / boast

This is just very important for every parent! Every child is unique and special! Make yourself clear that you don’t compare your child with other kids. Comparison let them down. Also, don’t boast the child. When you boat their skills, it will prevent them preparing well for the board exams.

Provide comforting environment

It is essential to provide support for children to prepare for the exams without distractions. The environment and ambience should be peaceful to help them concentrate. Avoid the distractions like arguments in the home, television, gadgets, etc. Limit the exposure to entertainment (mobile phones, games, tv) although it is not necessary to get off from it completely.

Check out what they eat and feed them nutritious, nourishing foods

Final check for the exam preparation is healthy foods. When the mind and body is nourished, the children can perform well in the exam. Even cold and fever may ruin the exam preparation. Give them healthy and nutritious foods that nourish their mind and body.

Relax with them

Exam stress and fear can be defeated by simple relaxation techniques. A few minutes of deep breathing exercise help them to chill-down from the exam tension.

Finally, give them adequate time to get sufficient sleep. Sleep deprived students may not perform well in the exams!
